Roland Stawinoga, Mechanical Engineer associated with CTV, has presented his paper “Machine Frames Made of Wood” at the University of Cambridge.
In this article, the author describes the efficient use of wood as a material used in the manufacture of lift components, in this particular case the machine frame. The original idea comes from Mr Fredrick von Maltzahn, managing director of CTV, who comes from a wood-producing family in Mecklenburg (Northern Germany). CTV has designed, manufactured and financed the two prototypes of this bench.
In the rest of his article, Roland explains the benefits of using wood in lift construction, allowing for more environmentally friendly products that improve acoustic insulation, minimise environmental impact and reduce costs.
